This document briefly explains the main ways in which we protect your privacy and how we comply with the National Privacy Principles. It also describes the types of personal information we may collect from you. What personal information do we ask for?
Information that will allow us to display more pertinent advertising on the pages that you are viewing. Information that will allow us to communicate electronically with you e.g. newsletters etc, therefore the required minimum of information we ask for is:

- Your first name
- Your approximate age (within a band)
- Your approximate geography (by state, or New Zealand, or other)
- How you found out about us
- Your key area of interest in brain training
Optional information that may be asked in the future to help us build a better demographic picture of who uses our site is:
- Your surname
- Your organisation's name
Whilst Elite Mind’s information content is free, there are sections where you may wish to enter into Financial Transactions (e.g. purchasing cognitive training programs), and for these sections we will require more detailed personal information.
Why do we ask for personal information?
The required and optional information allows us to build a clear picture of the demographics of the different people who use our site.
A clear understanding of the demographics helps us deliver pertinent information content and cognitive training solutions to our client base.
The Privacy Act places restrictions on collecting sensitive personal information about you [this includes information about your religious views, ethnicity, political opinions, criminal records, personal health information or sexual preferences]. Generally we won’t collect this sort of information. However we may collect some sensitive information if we need to provide you with some specific products or service [for example subscriptions to brain training assessments and training programs] and provided you consent for us to do so.
When purchasing items from the site we will be required to ask for additional information as required by the financial institution authorizing the payment or as required by government GST rules for invoices.
We may use personal information for other reasons including:
- Telling you about products and services that we think may interest you [unless you tell us not to − which you can elect to do at any time]
- Preventing fraud and criminal activity − in regards to any financial transactions that may take place
- Helping us run our business, this will include:
- Training our staff
- Accounting, risk management, record keeping, archiving, systems development and testing
- Developing new products and services
- Undertaking planning, research and statistical analysis
How do we collect personal information?
We collect personal information from you when you register with Elite Minds.
There are required fields and optional fields. We strive to strike a balance between asking for the bare minimum of details to keep your registration relatively impersonal and quick to complete, and the information we require to provide you with improved products and services. If you enter into financial transactions directly with us then at that time we will need to collect additional information in order to process the payment.
When you log on to Elite Minds we will collect your username and password information in order to confirm your identity.
Do we provide your personal information to others?
We may share your information with other organizations related to Elite Mindss Pty Ltd. Sometimes we provide information about our registered Elite Minds members with organizations which are not related to Elite Minds Pty Ltd. Generally these are organizations that help us run our business. These may include:
- Our accountants, auditors, or lawyers
- Credit reporting agencies
- Debt collecting agencies
- Our payments system operator [the banks / credit cards organizations that authorize and financial transactions that you may enter into directly on the site].
- Your representative [for example lawyer, accountant, administrator etc]
We strive to limit the information we give these organizations to what they need to perform their services for us or provide goods or services to you. We may also in the future enter into contracts with organizations who provide goods and services to us or jointly with us. These contracts will require the organization to:
- Meet the privacy standards we set ourselves in protecting your personal information and comply with the Privacy Act
- Use the personal information only for the specific service we ask them to perform or the product / service that we ask them to provide, and for no other purpose.
We may also need to provide your personal information to others outside the Elite Minds Pty Ltd organization where:
- We are [in limited circumstances] allowed or required by law or where we have a public duty to do so. For example a Court, a regulator [ASIC or ATO] or the police can compel us to disclose personal information for them.
- It can be reasonably inferred from the circumstances that you consent to your personal information being disclosed to them. For example, your consent will be implied for us to use and disclose your information to inform you of products and services that we believe may interest you. However, your implied consent for us to do this can be withdrawn at any time by telling us.
We may sometimes have to transfer you personal information overseas. We will only do this in accordance with the Australian National Privacy Principles.
Do we use personal information to market products and services to you?
We may use personal information to offer you products and services we believe may interest you, but we will not do so if you tell us not to.

Can you access your personal information?

You can amend your Elite Minds details via the website. And you can amend your corporate or financial details by emailing us or calling us on 1800 462 866 (from landlines within Australia) We may not always be able to give you access to all the personal information we have about you. For instance we may not be able to give you access to information that:
- Would reveal personal information about another person
- Would reveal a commercially sensitive decision making process
- We are prevented by law from providing to you
- Relates to existing or anticipated legal proceedings
Do we keep your personal information accurate and up-to-date?
Yes.
We maintain the quality of your personal information by taking reasonable steps to make sure that the collected, used and disclosed is accurate, complete and up-to-date. We encourage you to help us by informing us immediately if you change your details.
Is your personal information secure?
Your information is protected via your username and your password. Also Elite Minds registration information is generally not "confidential" in nature. Whilst we ask for your first name − your surname is optional, we require your email address − but not your phone number. For information you provide for financial transactions, your details are secure. We take the following steps to ensure its security:
- We use up-to-date 1024-encryption technology in all areas of the site which require you to provide payment information. Our processes, which meet current industry standards, to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorized access, modification and disclosure.
- The only people who are allowed to handle or have access to your personal information are those employees of Elite Minds Pty Ltd and those who perform services for Elite Minds Pty Ltd who need your personal information to do their jobs. All Elite Minds Pty Ltd employees and contractors are bound by confidentiality clauses in their employment or service engagement agreements to not misuse your personal information. Those who perform services on our behalf are also bound by privacy and confidentiality agreements.
- Paper documents are protected from unauthorized access or use via various security systems that we have over our physical premises. We also maintain up-to-date computer and network security systems with appropriate firewalls, etc to protect electronic copies of personal information.
- We also require you to help us in complying with the security measures designed to protect your personal identification username and password by keeping your username and password confidential.
- If we no longer require your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to destroy it in a secure manner or remove identifying features from it. This is subject to any legal obligations we have to keep information for a certain period of time.
We can’t guarantee the policies and procedures of any other websites that may be linked from our website. They may not meet the same privacy standards that we set for ourselves. So, you should take care to understand and evaluate the particular privacy standards and procedures, as needed.
Computer tracking and cookies
This website is not set up to track, collect or distribute personal information not entered by visitors. Our site logs do generate certain kinds of non-identifying site usage data, such as the number of hits and visits to our site. This information is used for internal purposes by technical support staff to provide better services to the public and may also be provided to others, but again, the statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used opt gather such information.

Although we are committed to keeping the promises set out in this document, we sometimes do make mistakes. Fixing these mistakes and ensuring that we deliver on our promises is very important to us.
